Some Politics, Some Perks, Some Preaching
JUST A BIT MORE POLITICS...
I've been thinking a bit more about my frustration with my elected officials, the majority of whom are there because of the votes of people like myself. They do not represent me well. They nauseate me. I've been leaning towards just not voting in the next election, and I think many conservative evangelicals are of similar intention. But I now think I will take a different tact. I am going to vote for the candidate of integrity. This almost surely means I will vote for no incumbents. Such have already proven, to me, that their campaigns are nothing but smoke and mirrors, intended to manipulate the dumb masses- i.e. myself! So I am going to be pulling the levers next to some fresh names. And I do not care if the lady has a campaign chest of $10, or the man is something other than a Republican (gasp!). I'm thinking of the famous phrase from the movie “Network”, and I'm liable to get into the voting booth and just start screaming and smashing things. And as the poll workers drag me away, I'll be shouting, “Throw the bums out!”
THE JOB DOES HAVE ITS PERKS...
Just got my main computer back from the shop. He put in a new hard drive, dvd/cd recorder, faster processor, and more memory. Price? Zero dollars! The shop owner and his wife are immigrants from Taiwan. Several years ago he and his wife were seeking spiritual truth and peace with God. As I recall we dined over a squid dinner, and the memory still lingers. They've been a part of my church ever since. And he insists upon repairing my computers for no charge. I try to pay...but who am I to argue? Now they also run a take-out Chinese restaurant; I'm thinking about making an order for something other than squid.
A FAVORITE VERSE...the essense of the Christian message
2 Corinthians 5:19 (NLT)
“For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. This is the wonderful message he has given us to tell others."

Vote for the Libertarian candidates. Send a message. And come on over to Dekalb County and vote against whoever is running against Cynthia so I won't have to complain about her anymore.

I just voted yesterday in the California Primary. I am still registered Democrat, so I had to select between the Democrats to go into the November election. One candidate for Lt. Gov. was very promising. I liked everything she wrote and I listened to her debate on the radio. She was smart and understood how things worked. She had already proven herself in the Assembly. But, she lost to a guy that just got out there and slung mud. Unfortunately she didn't respond with the same force of mud and she lost yesterday by 3%. I can't even understand how anyone could vote for the other guy, he just oozed "Used Car Salesman." If you know what I mean...
So, only one of my candidates won yesterday and I'm disapointed.

Dave do you think God ever gets sick of hearing "Politics"?

From me? I don't think God minds.
Issues of politics are vitally important for us as good citizens, and also as good Christians. They have a direct bearing on our immediate lives.
It's not a passion for me, but it is important.

With political races, it is more glitz and personality than substance and issues. You and I know a big problem with John Kerry is that he is just not a very attractive man. Of course, the Vietnam debacle did not help, either.
I still think we need a third party. There still exists the possibility that McCain will go in such a direction. I'd consider a McCain/Lieberman ticket.

I've given it 5 minutes of thought. I would not consider a McCain/anybody ticket.

Cynthia will soon be facing a grand jury. Should be interesting. And then she will be re-elected with 70% vote.

She won't be re-elected if you come vote at least 3x in the primary. :)
News reports are that she's not going to be indicted, that several witnesses who have been waiting to testify have been told that they won't be needed - she's working out some sort of deal. Still want to see her ass in cuffs doing the perp walk!

Good Luck on finding that candidate with integrity.
