DAVE AND DEB

25 YEARS!

It is hard to believe!  Much has changed: Look at that hair- not a bit of gray.  And the vest is no longer a part of my wardrobe.  And cake?  I need to stay away.  We married at a little church in Riverside, MO, outside of Kansas City.  She was from California, a military kid.  I was from the hills of Appalachia.  We had known one another for about a year, and that was enough.  Actually, I backed out of the first wedding, after family made arrangements and purchased plane tickets.  I think some still have a problem forgiving me for that one.

We've lived all over the place- KC, Detroit, Nashville, and several places in the Atlanta area.  We've never had much money, and now we have three adolescents, all about to take the same crazy plunge into adulthood.  We've grown in so many ways.  That crazy kid in the pictures worked hard to put on a good display of confidence, but he was scared in so many ways, and dumb in others.  He's still not too smart, but a quiet peace has settled in.  Life is good.

God has been so very good to us.  He gave me probably the one person who could put up with me through the years.  We've had good health, good friends, and never lacked for any real necessity.  We've laughed a lot.  And, now, there is much adventure yet to come.

We are happy. And that is a lot of hair. Now it is short, graying, and the sideburns are gone.

Thanks for the good wishes.

We have been through the tough years. I's say it should be smooth sailing from here on. But, I'll not bet on it!

How nice. I believe God to be the true and lasting bond in this relationship. When single, I made it my standard to seek a woman who loved God. That has made a great difference.

25 years? Why are you blogging, shouldn't you be celebrating? :-)

Next year is 20 years for us, and it seems like it was only yesterday. But, three more years and the kids begin to go off to College.

25 years? Why are you blogging, shouldn't you be celebrating? :-)

Happy anniversary!

27 years! That's actually a little scary, because I'm close to that myself. Our health is good, and I can't imagine a tragedy occurring, but you just never know. God's grace is sufficient, as I am sure you have discovered. Life is like a book made up of many chapters. You're into new chapters now, and I pray you will do well.

There are some absolutes in my life. As a teen I sought to date girls who had in common, with me, a commitment to Christ. All through College and young adulthood I stayed with that principle. I think such commitment spared me much heartache, and brought me into the right relationship I now enjoy.

I trust your life and ministries are going well.

Our celebration is delayed, because of commitments. In mid-June we will travel to Ashville for a few days, and plan to spend a day traveling the mountains on a train. And, we will take in a tour of the Biltmore Estate- something i'm not too excited about but she really wants to see. The mountains of North Carolina are beautiful.

Last night, we did go out for a nice meal at a favorite Thai restaurant. And I walked through Bass Pro Shop, looking at the boats and wishing I had one.

Ashton Kutcher...yeah, right!!! Have you seen The Butterfly Effect? An excellent movie, and I didn't think Kutcher had it in himself to be a quality actor. It's a good flick, and I may blog about it sometime.
