Dick Cheney's lesbian daughter gave birth to a baby boy. So where does courage come into picture ??

I thought a bit about this one. I considered the word "perversion" as a response. I do not think family nor child-rearing is best served by a lesbian. But, I find courage in the newspiece. Did you read it? First, the mother refuses to be a cause-celebre by saying she is not making a social statement for gays and lesbians, but simly having a baby. That's a bit refreshing. She states that her domestic partner will have no legal rights to this baby. I've found her to be courageous in bucking the gay lobby by supporting her dad and his Republican politics all the while continuing to be gay. And I also find courageous the support and love, and lack of judgment, on the part of her parents. That cannot be easy, but they seem to make it so.

This sort of statement by you always infuriates me. Find me a quote wher someone says that having THIER baby is a social statement. You're implication is that it's common. Back it up.

Dave, read an article by ABC's John Stossel titled "The Many Myths of Ethanol."
In fact, you've pushed me into doing a blog on the article today and postponing the final part of my Spider-Man 3 review yet again.

You are way too intellectual for me. (reminds me of our family's suppertime convervation last night - if identical twins run the same lenght of race but one runs faster, does one work harder than the other and if so, which one?) I just say go back to counting sheep. good night.

From the article I pass along the following quotation:
"At a New York forum last winter, Mary Cheney said: "This is a baby. This is a blessing from God. It is not a political statement. It is not a prop to be used in a debate by people on either side of an issue. It is my child.'"
Not a political statement...
Not a prop for either side of the issue...
So it does sound, to me, like she is making a concerted effort to communicate that this childbirth, even with its highly unique context, will not be used to further any political/social cause.

Sharp? I don't know. I read the Atlanta Journal-Constitution daily. I check out several news sites on the internet, and have used them in this post. As are most of us here on t-blog, I'm quite interested in politics. Usually I sleep quite well. Something was going on last night. Maybe "Barbara" has the right understanding- male menopause. Surely not.

Good question. Identical twins do not live identical lives, nor develop physically in identical ways. Since muscular development and coordination are dependent upon exercise and practice, then most likely one twin has been getting more physical activity than the other. One is not lazier than the other, I'd say, but his/her life has taken a different direction requiring a different level of physical intensity.
Tell your family they need to come up with a more challenging question than this one.
Male menopause? Don't you have to be middle-aged to face such a challenge? Of course one as young as myself would not need to worry.

Yeah... sounds like she hoped people wouldn't call her having their baby a "perversion" or a "banner," but of course, that has nothing to do with my earlier comment where you called her comment "refreshing" insinuating that USUALLY such folks turn having their own babies into poltical statements, and I asked you to show some examples of that.
Maybe I wasn't clear.
Nope, just reread it. I was.

How un-progressive. I'm beginning to think you may be a MPAA moll. I'd be happy to send you the link for Netflix, so you can rent it when it becomes available. I hope by requesting assistance with illegal activity, you haven't been acquired by CARNIVORE, and targeted by the DEAR LEADER for re-education... :)

I'm not sure what happened to you two usually rational fellow t-bloggers? Anyhow, in my explanation of why I am willing to label Ms. Cheney as courageous, I'm actually giving her a begrudging compliment. It is obvious to me there is an ongoing effort to redefine family and marriage, speerheaded by the gay lobby. They would have already been successful except for the courage of people like Bush & Falwell, whose social conservatism is mocked by liberals but greatly respected by the majority of Americans. Buty, from the tone of the writing I have cited and from other comments by Ms. Cheney, I get the idea she is not trying to advance a social agenda with her actions. I appreciate it.

There are gay rights organizations, funded by the millions and supported by media, who lobby in Washington and I think have considerable influence. The nations largest is the Human Rights Campaign- interesting to me they think they have a basic human right to force their values upon others. There's GLAAD- although there's nothing "glad" about what they advocate. There's Lambda. And I guess, should I do a quick google, I'd find dozens of other well-funded, well-ensconced gay political lobbies.

There are legitimate organizations that advocate civil rights and acceptance of Gays and Lesbians as human beings that ought to have the same rights as any other people. There are NO legitimate organizations that advocate "recruitment" as you'd like to insinuate by including Lambda in your comment, which proves you're still just nuts on the subject. Get over it Dave. People are people.

Now you have narrowly defined the word "lobby" to fit your agenda. I'm using the word in general, political understanding. I don't think I'm nuts on the issue. Probably within a sizeable majority of Americans. Just sensible.

No Dave. There isn't. There are specific associations of which SOME members of various groups are represented. There is no "gay" lobby that represents all gays and lesbians. It's your insistance on lumping people together to fit into your conveniemt little box that is uterly reprehensible for a man who says he serves Jesus. And for God's sake would you please kill the BS post "Why Would Kyle Choose To Be Gay." It's insulting.

Okay. I found it offensive then and still do. You SEEM to still be espousing the same goofy rhetoric on the subject. Hope your heart changes on the matter eventually. I suppose if and when it does you'll fiugure out on your own how disgusting the assertion is. Imagine never making love yourself simply because someone else has convinced you that the way you show love is "wrong." I mean, hey, I get celebacy for people who chose it. I don't get it for people who've had it chosen for them by others. And I'm quite sure a loving God would have, at the very least, killed the urge in people who were different if he didn't want them to ever feel physical closeness to the people they love. Since he didn't? Who are you to judge? And judging is exactly what that post is doing. Nitpicking? Perhaps. Honestly doesn't feel like it.
