Gee, I like Barry.
Maybe that gal you dated remembers the concert but has long forgotten your name. LOL I bet she had a great time in her own mind.
The other night on the news they were talking about Rosie's book and looking at her personality issues from what she had said in her book about her childhood. Very interesting.
I don't watch The View.

This post reminded me of all the reasons why I can't stand Rosie not Barry, lol. Do people really care about her childhood? I sure don't. When I think 'Rosie' I think traitor, scum and did I say traitor? The sad thing is her book will sell because folks sure do love the gossip dont they?
Barry is a coward. Beliefs? Ha. Btw he does strike a scary resemblance to Phyllis Diller. LOL. Your right - run chicken run.
The History Channel used to be decent. Not so good anymore PD. Way left now. The only thing cable is good for anymore is the news and weather oh.. and of course ESPN :)

His voice has always been bad, something he readily admits, by the way, but as a pop song writer, he's done pretty well for himself.
Yeah, by the way, I'm sure Barry is scared of Hasselbeck - that's probably it. Sometimes I need you to remind me that conservatives are always thoughtful and sensible. Thanks. I thought maybe it had to do with the fact that the gal doesn't seem very bright and spews as much crap as Sean Hannity, but then I've seen her any number of times, unlike you who knows she must be smart since she's conservative. You're always a dependable fountain of truth. Good goin!

You make an interesting point. I remember the concert, a bit, but cannot recall exactly with whom I attended. Obviously it was not a memorable time together.

Fellow t-bloggers, mercury had a t-Blog a while back. I stole a blinkie from her, and confessed, and so we have been reading each other's stuff ever since. I encourage you to get over to blogspot and check her out. I'd post her url, but t-Blog won't allow it. O.K., I'll give it a try: www dot mercurysoul dot blogspot dot com.
The sad reality is that confessed liberals, like Barry, do not have to subject themselves to conservative commentators and shows because there are so few of them around. Television and the media are dominated by liberals, and so conservative personalities who wish to be seen and heard must subject themselves to the bias, and do their best to counter. This is not a necessity for those like Barry.

I can picture Sergeant Schultz, standing next to Col. Klink, looking at Hogan and saying the same words. Wait- perhaps that is from Laugh In? It was one of those very old television shows, I am sure.

Alright. So I have never watched The View. No big deal. And I will bet you have never attended a Manilow Concert. At least, you wouldn't admit it. If you were honest in confession, the truth would come out- you've been to a few bad concerts in your time, also.
The reality is rather obvious. Because Barry Manilow is part of the fraternity of liberals that dominates Hollywood and the television industry, he can do quite well without subjecting himself to the occasional conservative questioner. He feigns it is a matter of integrity. I think he is playing it safe, because he can.
By the way, I do not claim what I am saying here to be the "truth". It may or may not be. It's not an intentional untruth. It is simply opinion.

Hey PD - I have seen the view on occasion - and I have "rabbit ears' too - (no cable - I don't pay for my water either ;) - lol!) - It's on regular T.V. too, so there's no need to get cable to see the sparks fly on this *"fantastic" day-time show *(Eyes roll)
- Sounds to me like Mr. Barry Manilow, felt uncomfortable talking with Mrs. Hasselbeck, due to the fact that he has done a song on his album with Ms. O'Donnell - and due to the fact that Mrs. Hasselbeck and Ms. O'Donnell have in the recent past, had a, shall we say "Tiff", on The View ....that said - In some ways I am surprized that those who run The View would even have Mrs. Hasselbeck do the interview and not someone else due to this fact - of course then where would there ratings be?
Also - I THINK The View was SUPPOSED to be different views (of women), from all different walks of life and different viewpoints - hence the title - "The View" - At least that was my understanding of Mrs. Barbara Walter's explination of the concept of this show - that she put together....yep the show is her idea :)

Proud to say that I've a) Never viewed (or even desired to) "The View" and b) Never been to (or even desired to) a Barry Manilow.
It's not like Hasselbeck is even a staunch/hardball conservative. She's kind of mousy and ineffective in debate. I suspect this has a lot more to do with Manilow's apparent friendship with that planetoid O'Donnell than any fear of confrontation with Hasselbeck. Hell, if I were a liberal I'd WANT to face off against her, it would be easy.
The real thing to applaud here is the fact that "The View" would not compromise with him.
P.S. I have a set of rabbit ears...for when my satellite goes out.

Wouldn't be caught dead at a Manilow concert. I once had to attened a Blue Oyster Cult concert with a girl I thought was all that though. It wasn't pretty. The reasons behind Mr. Manilow's not wanting to be interviewed by Ms. Hasselbeck might indeed be because he's "afraid" of her, but it also may have something to do with not wanting to get into a debate with someone who doesn't listen or respond to what's being discussed uses ANY subject to make HER points while completely ignoring anything that might contradict them, especially if it's based in fact. I know people like that too and it can be annoying and feel like a waste of breath. For instance, even if, for instance, I was for some reason invited, I don't think I'd ever rush to be a guest on Bill O's show since his interview style doesn't really lend itself to honest debate.

*I* think Barry was afraid his secret desires to have Elisabeth's baby would become public, so he chose to pass on the interview.
*giggle. Seriously, it doesn't really matter, does it? The planet continued to spin today, and that's a pretty good thing.

Obviously not a memorable time but it is funny you remember going to the concert but can't remember who.
Guess that is what old age does to you, makes you forget some details.

As a semi-regular 'The View' viewer for over 10 years now, I was a little disappointed that Mr. Manilow cancelled his appearance. I like his voice, I have for over 30 years now, and at the very least any of you would have to admit he's a tremendously talented songwriter--you've been listening (loving) to his stuff for years without knowing it--he's written tons of famous commercial jingles.
I like Elizabeth Hasselbeck--I've been watching her from the start too--do you know what her inital claim to fame was? Survivor. That's right, a reality show, lol.
But honestly, I read that Barry is doing the talk-show/morning show circuit promoting the new '70s album not his political viewpoint, so why would he care if Elizabeth is sitting in?
And Pastor, you can watch 'The View' anytime you'd like with those rabbit ears :) 11:00 am EST ABC

never have watched the view, or barry manilow. do enjoy the history channel, but I think you are right, it is definitely leaning leftish now. and, i did see a commercial for one of barry's albums, and he really does look plasticy now. what was the name of that other singer/songwriter who was so ugly and sang well? he was short and really ugly. LOL i cannot remember anymore.

I have something almost as embarrassing to confess.
My first concert was Cat Stevens, (before he became a raghead). He was my first concert, because my parents thought he was pretty innocuous, not likely to lead to problems. My second and third concerts were ZZ Top and the Doobie Brothers. I liked them a lot better. :)
My last concert was American Idol, first season, with Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarani, among others. My youngest daughter and her best friend (9 or 10 at the time) wanted to go so I sat in the 12th row on the floor, in the middle, on the aisle. It was really too much for me. I hated it, but the kids had a great time. I have never been to another concert, and I probably never will.
BTW I too have rabbit ears, bent up and with foil on the ends. I have never had cable, but I have seen The View. It comes on ABC in the morning, at 10 or 11 am here. Check your local listings, etc etc.

Nothing embarassing about ZZ Top & Doobie Brothers. I wouldn't put them in the same category as Barry Manilow. Now, if you had mentioned BJ Thomas...

LOL -- I really can't recall.
As a matter of fact, I remember I have a birthday, but just can't remember how old I am because all I know is that I am young at heart.
