Senator Grassley Probes Multimedia Ministers
Acting on tips about preachers who ride in Rolls Royces and have purportedly paid $30,000 for a conference table, the top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee said Tuesday he's investigating the finances of six well-known TV and Multimedia ministers.

Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa said those under scrutiny include faith healer Benny Hinn, Georgia megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar, one of the nation's best known female preachers Joyce Meyer, and t-Blog sensation PastorDave.

Grassley sent letters to the half-dozen Christian media ministries earlier this week requesting answers by Dec. 6 about their expenses, executive compensation and amenities, including use of fancy cars and private jets.

In a statement, Grassley said he was acting on complaints from the public and news coverage of the organizations:  "The allegations involve governing boards that aren't independent and allow generous salaries and housing allowances and amenities such as private jets and Rolls Royces," Grassley said.

PastorDave was contacted by the Associated Press while relaxing upon his yacht at an undisclosed location. When asked for a response, first he puffed from a Cuban cigar, and politely asked his petite young concierge to hold all calls. Then with a sincere smile, he replied, "I name it and claim it, and God blesses. I'm just doing the Lord's work. And God needs some of His children to fly First Class and live in luxury. Who am I to argue with the Great Divine?" Then he excused himself for a "time of meditation" upon his $23,000 porcelain throne.

A full interview will follow tomorrow in which PastorDave answers his critics and asks the Lord to put about himself a hedge of protection from Satan's fiery darts.

I think anyone named Creflo and has a wife named Taffy is guilty to begin with.

I think this is like PTL all over again - without the mascara.

It is quite amazing the ministry and fellowship opportunities that seem to be available with the office help, or so say many of my fellow megachurch ministers- with the wink of an eye, of course.

Perhaps you would like for me to send to you a burlap wallet, that you can fill with money and send back? Seed faith, you know. Tax deductible.

Creflo & Taffy. I understand he has bodyguards who will not allow you to touch him. It removes the "anointing".

I did not read this post. I had this post read TO me, and I'm glad, because reading it myself would have sickened me to my very core. I've always known you were nothing more than a mega-church fraud at heart, praying on unsuspecting widows and orphans to line your own slime ridden pockets. I've seen that little church you use as a cover, with it's modest pastoral office and parsonage, and I KNEW you covering. I don't remember you ever saying "Hey, surr', come on, join me on the yacht for a day or two. I've got an extra young thing to take dictation from you for your next couple'a posts." No. You didn't even share your bounty with your FRIEND. I hereby wash my hands of you.

I wonder if you'd get more response from these pastors if you donated more moolah?

Sort of like the pastors that beat each other up a few months ago? The female pastor suddenly becoming a media whore/victim - suddenly she's the poster-child for domestic violence. You know there's a book deal in the works and a movie following....

I was very involved with a rather large church when I was in high school here in Atlanta. But when gossip started that one of the ministers was supposedly having an affair with one of my friend's mothers when we were on a choir trip - she was in the room with us that night as our chaperone... I defended them - but still it continued throughout the church. The pastor resigned and quit pastoring and the family of the chaperone left the city...

All because of gossip in the church...

I hope you don't differentiate between Monopoly money and real money. Hey, the Canadian dollar is worth more than yours, I'm holding on to mine.

It's true Sabastian, he does drive Rolls Royces, and not very well either. Plus he disguises it as an tiny little Chevy Aveo to fool the tax man. Guy thinks he owns the road.

Well, yes, I drive a rolls. And so does my wife. My daughter, a Mercedes. The Alpha- that's my teenage son. But...none of them really belong to me. They are property of the ministry. PastorDave t-Blog Ministries. It's all legit- honest!

Sebastian, would you consider making a LARGE donation to help us start a orphanage in Mexico? We've been collecting for a while now- about 15 years- and I think we will break ground soon. Just send me lots of money. You can trust me.
