Let's Go To Hilton Head Island
Beginning Monday, I will spend a week vacationing at Hilton Head. This is an unexpected but very welcome opportunity at a time of my life that has gotten a bit heavy and therefore quite needful of a diversion. I know almost nothing about Hilton Head. We have spent a few days in nearby Savannah, a restful and lovely place. One time we drove across the bridge into South Carolina, and briefly checked out the ritzy resort community. I understand that presidents vacation on the island, so it is not my regular kind of place to hang out. But when friends offered the use of their place for a week, I gratefully jumped at the opportunity.
So, what will I do for the week? I envision a relaxing and refreshing time, including lots of reading, walks, prayer, and thinking. The beaches are supposed to be beautiful, and although the time of year does not lend itself to sunbathing, morning and evening walks should be great. Perhaps I'll catch some fish, or take in a round of golf. Maybe I'll simply wander around as a dottering old vacation bum for the entire week. That sounds like fun!
If you have been there before, and have some recommendations, please let me know.
Any fellow t-Bloggers live in the area? Let's have a cup of coffee!
Do you have anything you would like for me to pray about? Send a t-mail, in confidence, and I will be honored to pray for you.
With great interest I will be studying the place for the next several days. Can't wait!
Here are some photos.

The pictures are beautiful. I hope you have a wonderfully relaxing time. To me, the best vacation is one that involves tossing out the itinerary. No plans = no pressure.

Sounds like a nice chance to 'get away' and just enjoy yourselves. Perfect!

the absolute best vacation i ever had was in south carolina, but could have been almost anywhere. strangely enough, none of my family went with me. my best friend and i went for a week, to a condo. it was cheap, we had a kitchen and cooked. she did what she wanted, i did what i wanted. i laid around and watched british sitcoms. i went for long walks along the deserted beaches (this was october....) i think the best time to go to the beach is in the off seasons, it is too cold to swim and i don't want to swim anyway, too cold to tan, and i don't, but GREAT for long walks with a coat on and watch the ocean. i had lots of time to contemplate and think which is the ultimate renewal of body and spirit. have a blast. i think you deserve it.

Lucky you. Enjoy. I hear it's the second most popular Hilton head since Paris gained infamy.

Tossing out the itenary? Now, me, I plan every day of the vacation. I think it stems from the fact I've always heard from the kids, "I'm bored. Let's go somewhere/ let's do something/ are we just going to hang around here?"

Thanks. I'll be there for three days with Debbie and Skylar, and then three days with just myself. I envision a week of much relaxation. Eating. Reading.

I'll take along some interesting reading. There's a popular new author name Parmenter, that I look forward to reading his newest book. I hear he is a real jerk, but a good writer.

Lots of time to contemplate and think? Alright, that sounds good, but I'm a bit out of practice.
Actually, I've been told of a Time Share presentation that I can attend, including a meal, that will pay me $100 for my troubles. I'm thinking seriously about it. I have no intention whatsoever of buying a Time Share. I think it would be a lousy investment. So, maybe it would be unfair to attend the presentation just for the money? Darn, this thinking about matters of ethics, right and wrong, just messes up everything.

That's interesting... I heard he was a babe in the woods as far as writing goes, but a really good fella.

not at all my friend. they are paying you 100 for the opportunity to present to you. they know that well over half the people will not buy, but it still pays them to pay you if you get my drift....enjoy regardless.

Hilton Head has always been my choice for vacation. When our boys were little, that's where we went for a long weekend every summer. Loved every minute of it. Hubby played tennis all day and the boys and I stayed at the beach all day. GOOD memories. But it'll be very cold this time of year - take warm socks, coats and gloves and ear muffs are hats. And a good book and a good attitute. I think you have those last 2 already packed, right?
