So What Are You Doing Today?
It is my day off, and I'm sitting in the office awaiting the delivery of a refrigerator. I'm not sure the proper definition of "wanting to be somewhere else" but I'm pretty sure this gets close.
Now it is 15 minutes later. Gramm stopped by. He's been retired from General Motors for about 20 years and likes to stop in to talk politics. He's a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat and big-time Clinton fan. You can imagine our conversations, but they are all good-natured. Gramm cannot hear very well. More precisely, he hears what he wants to hear. He asked me what I thought of the earthquake in China, which lead to his opinions on the ethnic diversity of our area. To Gramm, everyone of Asian origin is a "Chinese". He thinks maybe we should lock 'em all up, like they did the Chinese before World War II. I reminded him those were people from Japan. He did not hear me.
So, I sure wish they would hurry up and deliver the refrigerator. It is not a side-by-side, and with no ice maker. It was picked out by Gramm. "Plain, like me!" he boasts.

Sounds like Gramm and my dad would get along great. Or, maybe not. They both have selective hearing down to an art and are always referring to all from Asian descent as "Chinese". The only difference, really, is my dad thinks that the president has about as much power as the King of England - no power, just there for show - so, it doesn't matter who is elected...

Hmm - yeah my Dad is that way too ( except now my Dad has hearing aides, so he can't get away with that excuse anymore - well no, that's not true - he could always say, "Oops, sorry I had them turned off" - lol!)
- So what am I doing today??? well, I'm sitting here at mycomputer reading about PD and Gramm waiting for the refrigerator to be delivered ...now if you had asked me what I was doing YESTRDAY.....I would tell you that I was facepainting at a pre-Preakness event where they have hot air balloons ( no, I didn't get to go up in one - arrrgh!) - but - I did get to see the "Balloon glow" - where they light up all the ballooons at night - I had never before seen it in person - what a beautiful sight! :D
Hope you and Gramm have a wonderful day PD! :)

Gramm sounds like fun. :-) The fridge waiting, not so much.
I went to class today and took a test. The rest of the day will consist of playing tennis with a friend, doing some household work and reading more of the Magician's Nephew. I re-read Prince Caspian last weekend, since it's coming out today and then decided it would be neat to re-read the first few books in the series leading up to that book too.
I don't know though... that fridge waiting sounds enticing.

Just sitting around, catching up on friends blogs and wondering if it's necessary to open the store today. it's after the mother's day rush and the lowest gas is $4.00 a gallon so flowers are a luxury now.
Have fun waiting on that fridge PD.

He often speaks about how there are so many Chinese around here, and asks about those Chinese who attend our church. Actually, Koreans attend our church. The people of the community may actually be Cantonese, Taiwanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese, Filipino, Pacific Islander, etc- to Gramm, they're all Chinese. Now he has a different view than your dad about the power of the president. According to Gramm, President Bush has literally brought our nation to the precipice of eternal and irrevocable destruction, and the only thing that could possibly deter such fate would be the election of Hilliary Clinton.

I guess one thing potentially more boring than awaiting the delivery of a refrigerator would be reading about it. Yep, you've got me beat.
I've been to a hot air balloon festival. In Macon during the Cherry Blossom Festival. It is lots of fun to see all the huge, colorful, dangerous crafts. I would not go up in one- well, except maybe I'd build one from old rain coats and escape across the iron curtain during the tensions of the Cold War.

I read Chronicles, and Prince Caspian, long ago. In was during College, I remember. I'll see the movie- hope it is as entertaining and faithful to the original as Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe. My daughter graduated last Saturday, and now is in the midst of a big depressive "funk" about having to move back home. She's an independent adult and I guess she needs her own place.
Hope your upcoming Summer goes well. Find a way to help out in VBS!

I overheard Clark Howard, the radio consumer advocate, predict that gas will be less than $2 per gallon by next Summer. I'm not sure what kind of flowers he is sniffing, but I am hoping his prediction comes true.
We gave a long-stemmed rose to every mother at church on Sunday. They seemed to enjoy the gesture.

Our tblogmobile, of course, is 'a-for-profit' vehicle as we are taxed to the maximum, plus 10%...

Now I know why you think Democrats are stupid. Yipes. I swear, most of us would oppose his "plan."
