What do you mean? This is sad. Betta Boy swam happily in the bowl on my desk for almost a year. Then some kind of fungus steadily grew all over his little body. And, one sad day, he was floating ontop the water. I ignored him for several day. But the stench required that I take action. Thus, my own private memorial service for Betta Boy. That is sad, don't you agree?

Do you know what kind of treatment MY pet gets? I'm in Iowa this week, but AuntConi drove all the way up to my place today, (it's at least 30 miles), JUST to spend some time with my cat, just so Roadie's not too lonely.

He was a tough little fish. Could go weeks without a change of water, and several days without food. He seemed to tolerate temperature changes well, also, as sometimes I would leave the AC far too cold. I think his demise was speeded by too much food. While gone for a few days, I asked someone to feed him. Too much food is not good for you, you know?

Indeed, there were good days. He would swim around and sometimes it seemed we would make eye contact. I could see trust in his eyes. And he would attack his food with total faith that I would never feed him the wrong thing. And, I'm a bit saddened to think he was likely done-in by a surrogate feeder, who gave him too much food too fast. He likely died of gluttony. Or, negligence on my part.

Re 'surrogate fish feeder'
How well I know that too much food is good for no one, man nor fish.
Alas, I have had to watch children as they would always want to feed the fish too much food. Just a pinch or shake of the fish food doesn't look like much and so the youngster gives an extra shake or two and before you know it, fishie is floating on top of the water. ((hugs))

Haha...no wonder it died!!! ummm did you have it trained to do anything?...maybe betta's can't be trained! Supposed to give em meds when they get sick!! Get a new Betta...and a book on how to take care of them!!
