Madonna A "Crypto-Satanist"? What A Joke

So, there are religious people who are offended by the antics of this entertainer ?  This is what she wants!  It generates notoriety, publicity, and ultimately money.  It is the way this two-bit crooner of marginal talent has been able to survive for so long.  She will do anything for money.  She certainly is not a raving beauty, but she will take off her clothes for money.  Her voice is limited and dancing suspect, but she will abuse a crucifix and kiss a woman on stage.  Heck, she will even kiss Jesus in her effort to whore herself for an entertainment news clip and ultimately the increase of her bank account.  And, yes I am offended by her schtick.  But I do not think there is the need for a campaign for official censorship of her vulgar show.

Why does she want to be so offensive toward Christianity?  As I have already said, it creates interest and sound bites.  And especially negative publicity seems to make her more appealing to the lot of people who think organized religion to be an acceptable punching bag.  Somehow I found myself watching an interview with Brad Pitt last night.  Now I enjoy his work.  I think he is a good actor with a nice range of talent.  And he does commendable work for needy and vulnerable people in New Orleans.  The interviewer asked if he would consider running for Mayor?  In jest, he intimated that he would not be electable because he would run on a "no religion" platform.  I do not think it was a serious statement for the separation of government and religion, which I endorse.  I think it was a typical Hollywood slap on Christianity.  And guys like Pitt and Madonna know they can get by with it because the vast majority of us go to see a movie or concert strictly for entertainment, and not to support the politics or religion of the actors.  Even though I am a Christian, I certainly can separate the two.  And I also know that these people are not qualified to speak with wisdom and authority on matters of politics or religion simply because they have attractive faces and are able to read a script.

Just like with cartoon characters, I may enjoy the show, but I sure don't care what they have to say about real life.

Get by with what? A 'no-religion' platform? Why are you so offended by other people's choices, PD? Aren't we supposed to witness in love instead of constantly criticizing? What are your thoughts on that?

wow!! talk about judgmental LOL. I am offended when ANYONE profanes something that is considered sacred by someone else.

Including profaning of Muslim, Buddhism, Christianity, the United States of America....

and, I don't think people should buy the crap. but, since many have died to insure that we have the freedom to express ourselves, no matter whether it be in horrible taste or not, as well as the freedom to buy such crap, I am just lucky to be born American where i can have my opinion and live out my opinion, as can you.

She grew up about eight miles from me, and somewhere I have some black and white pics a photographer friend of mine took of her when she was taking dance classes at Oakland University - the school my ex went to and the one my daughter now attends. He thought I could wait a while and then maybe sell them on ebay - something he said he could never be bothered with, and something I've never taken the time to do either. I think they're at my son's house somewhere... Hmmm.

I've never found her anything but both untalented and annoying. On the other hand, here at SweetLady's house, I hear more than a little "Christain" rock, and MUCH of it is JUST as annoying - overproduced and pointless.

Welcome back.

Now, now, she may come across as an idiot at times, and thrives on controversy, but I cannot deny her talent when it comes to making catchy pop tunes. For that there is no need to be an accomplished singer. She was raised Catholic and obviously was turned off by her experiences with it, but anyone who forms their own opinion based on Madonna's is an imbecile. But she has a right to free speech, as does Brad Pitt, as does Pastor Dave.

Yep. Her right to free speech is why I think these Christians in Poland are wrong to want to ban her concerts because of her religious offense. Just don't go! Don't buy her music. Change the channel when she is on tv. There are people who measure the interest of the public, and I'm pretty sure Madonna will change her tune when the marketers tell her.

Wait a minute! You find Christian rock to be annoying and over-produced? Indeed, there is a lot of really bad music being produced with the label "Christian". I seldom listen to Christian music. Of course, I usually listen to talk radio.

Yes, it is doubly offensive for her to intentionally profane things that others consider to be sacred. Crucifix. Cross. Priesthood. Mary. I'm not Catholic, and my church does not display any of these items prominently. But I understand their importance, and would never insult others. Same with sacred matters of the Muslim faith, like Mohammed or the Koran or even the strange ways of dress. I don't agree. But these are important to others, and why offend them needlessly?

Many of these Hollywood extremists speak quite directly of their contempt for matters that many hold to be sacred. With the particular interview with Pitt that I mention, he made the statement about a "platform of no religion" with a twinkle in his eye and a sly smile upon his face. He thought it to be funny, and the interviewer understood and played right along. Meanwhile, most people who take matters of faith quite seriously would consider such to be an unnecessary slap in the face. This guy wants me to pay $12 to see him perform in a movie, and then sit still without feeling slighted when he unnecessaryly insults what is very important in my life. Why does he think he can get by with that? I know why- because the vast majority of Christians are willing to seperate his performances from his private statements. And, we understand as I have already stated, he is a guy who can do a good job of memorizing and performing a part on stage, but has little of value to contribute in the arena of ideas.

Now, I'm not much offended by people's choices. I do know that choices have consequences, including spiritual consequences, and that concerns me about the well-being of that very person. But others are free to believe as they choose. Such is their right, especially as an American. But when Brad Pitt opens his mouth and states an opinion about something quite important to me, and when that opinion is patently offensive, then I have every right in the world to respond. I'm of the opinion Brad Pitt should stick to acting, and keep his mouth shut about some matters he seems to know so little about.

You should read the words of the Old Testament prophets. They certainly had no problem interjecting their thoughts into the public arena, criticizing when felt to be necessary. Besided, this idea that a judgment cannot be made by a Christian is wrong and unbiblical. I feel confident offering judgment of ideas, behavior, actions, etc. It is only when I judge the value of another human being that I go too far.

You listen to talk radio? Nah, can't be.

Try silence - or books (but please, not books written by talk radio hosts. They're just extensions of their nutty shows.)

I've never attended a movie with Madonna in it, and have never bought one of her songs, and probably not listened to more than 2 or 3...my way of voting!

Heck PD I kind of find folks like Madonna and the Brittany chick entertaining. Not because of their great talent but that some people think they have talent and really care! Shoot I saw the Disney darlin' Miley Cyrus in hooker shorts dancing on a stripper pole on some award show.I miss the days when we had real entertainment, now it is more about controversy and shock value. It makes me sad.

Man, Christians get upset by the littlest things. Especially Brad Pitt's comment. That said, though religion is very fragmentary, the forceful secularization of countries leads to no good (case in point: Turkey).
